He joined that organization in 1970 and retired in 1998 as a Consulting Physicist and Senior Member of the Research Laboratory (SMRL).\u00a0 During his 28 years at the ATC he performed research in the Nuclear Science, Applied Physics, and Space Sciences Laboratories, respectively. He was an adjunct professor in the UNR Physics Department since 1987. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong> Duties at the ATC included group leader to perform basic and applied physics research in the fields of nuclear and atomic physics, laser plasma physics, surface studies of electronic materials, ion beam interactions with materials, the physics of thin films and interfaces, underground nuclear test x-ray and neutron diagnostics, above ground simulation x-ray diagnostics, space physics, and radiation detector and instrumentation technologies. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong> Before joining Lockheed Martin he was employed (1967 to 1970) at Yale University as an Instructor and Research Physicist in the Wright Nuclear Structure Laboratory where he taught and performed nuclear physics research using a tandem Van de Graaff ion beam accelerator.
