{"id":321,"date":"2013-12-14T23:58:26","date_gmt":"2013-12-14T23:58:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/serepet.org\/?page_id=321"},"modified":"2014-10-31T00:53:07","modified_gmt":"2014-10-31T07:53:07","slug":"backpacking","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/johnpronko.com\/?page_id=321","title":{"rendered":"BACKPACKING"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>My first hard core backpacking experiences started while a graduate student at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.\u00a0 I joined the Canadian Youth Hostel Organization which had cabins through out Alberta, especially in the Banf\/Jasper parks.\u00a0 The members in the organization were from all over the world which provided for a very rich experience.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>It wasn&#8217;t until we moved to California in 1970 that I started backpacking again. I backpacked with our children in the Sierra Nevada when they were a very young age and continued on through the years of our son Greg&#8217;s involvement in the Boy Scouts of America. Along with Dave Ellis and Jerry Howard, we lead troop 37&#8217;s fifty miler backpack trips in the Sierra Nevada for many years.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>I plan to present pictures from these
